While this week did go by fairly quick, no matter what, Friday's just never get here soon enough! I didn't have to stop for anything on my way home so I got there just a little after 4pm. Wally and Daryl had worked on the outdoor kitchen and made some really good progress. It should only be another week before we're ready to cookout - woo hoo!!! Of course, y'all are invited to come over :)
Wally showed me where the remaining pieces will be stationed and it looks like it will work out very well for moving around in the area. We'll be able to use gas, charcoal or the smoker in addition to my 4 burner stovetop. C'mon over and check it out!
The wind was blowing like crazy while we were outside; my hair was everywhere and I got stuff in my contacts so I couldn't stay out long. It was even blowing so hard that we could hear it whistling over the top of Wally's beer bottle LOL. I know - he doesn't like bottles at the cabin... but they were the only ones on sale so that's what I bought. It's not like beer lasts very long here anyway, right?
We went inside and watched Archie and Sanford and Son. Those shows crack me up as much now as they used to when we were little. We do watch newer shows too and they are funny but they just aren't the same. Some of the ones we catch that are older are Becker, M.A.S.H., Everybody Loves Raymond, Home Improvement, etc. Wally likes watching SPEED channel too - I usually find something else to do while that's on. Sorry, but I just can't get into it any more than he can get into Food Network. To me it sounds like they're speaking Spanish.
I totally forgot to take out something for dinner and I saw a bunch of empty bowls in the sink so I knew Wally had cleaned out all the leftovers. We talked about going down to the diner to eat. I haven't eaten there since I moved here so the thought was kind of appealing. But then I decided to make tuna fish sandwiches instead. That's another thing I haven't had in a long time. I seem to get on a roll where I eat it 2 or 3 times a week and then I'm done with it for a month - you too? They (whoever they are?) say that when you crave something to eat it's because your body is lacking in some nutrient. Well, mine was lacking in tuna LOL and apparently so was Wally's.
I made two cans of tuna with all the goodies; green peppers, celery, hard-boiled eggs, mayo, pepper and some of my dilly pickle relish (from Mule Day). I know you're wondering where the onions are and well, quite frankly, I ran out of them. ARRRGGGHHHH how can I live without onions in the house??? Relax, fortunately for me the dilly relish had onions in it hee hee hee. But I will be stopping at Publix on my way home tonight...
Wally had two sandwiches on toast and I had one on toast and one little fold-back with the heal of the bread. Obviously, bread is on my list as well. What pigs, huh? I justify it by saying that at least tuna is healthy... I'm sure there are others out there who do the same. It's not like eating a half gallon of low-fat frozen yogurt and justifying it by saying it's healthy... totally different.
We did get to see a turkey out in the yard. She was out wandering around and eating whatever she could find. Must have been plenty of it because she stayed even when we went up to bed. I might add that it was still daylight so there was no reason for her to leave.. lol
Don't forget the Kentucky Derby is on this weekend. I believe the radio guy said the pre-race stuff starts at 3 and the actual race at 5:30. I don't know if he was talking Eastern or Central time so check your local listings so you don't miss it. They are expecting more rain than what we're supposed to get but from what I understand they will run it unless there's lightning.
I'm hoping to get my tomatoes before the rains come on Saturday but I'll stay away from that subject because you, like me, are probably tired of hearing it. Promises, promises, promises. I will say though that I bought some "Sunsweet Ones" last time I was at the store. Yes, the commercial finally got to me. It's true, however, that they are sweet and very juicy. I figure one or two a day should keep everything on track if you know what I mean. LOL
So it's the weekend and I'm ready for it. I have more boxes to unpack (can you believe it?) and more laundry to do. I can't hang clothes on the line because of the darn rain but I can get them all washed, dried and put away while the unpacking is going on. Where the heck is Rebecca when I need her? LOL she got so good at doing laundry I almost couldn't tell her folded towels from my own. Seriously - have her fold some for you sometime and you'll see what I mean. She won't appreciate it but you'll see what I mean.
I'm off to Publix after work and then home to see what's in store for me. Maybe a ride on the 4 wheelers, maybe a ride in the black truck if it's fixed. Maybe just hang out on the front porch of the cabin with a cooler full of beer and nothing but ourselves and nature to keep us amused. We're pretty amusing after a cooler full of beer... LOL Not that you didn't already know that :)
So I'll leave you with a smile as this day goes by...

Sorry this took so long. I finally replaced my Mac, so up and rolling until the next cluster. Okay, so Jaybird is all worried ya'll are piled up in an ark with Smith, Wesson, Rebel and Smokey - so let us know that "higher ground" is indeed still the case.
